Do you know how Operation Walk Syracuse started and why the name changed to Operation Walk New York?

In 2010, renowned orthopedic surgeons Drs Brett and Seth Greenky from Syracuse, NY and Director of Surgical Services and Orthopedic Administrator at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY, Kimberley Murray, applied to do medical mission work with Operation Walk Boston. Their application was forwarded to Operation Walk Los Angeles, California, the home of the national organization. The Syracuse applicants were surprised and thrilled to receive a request from the national organization, inviting them to start their own team and to become the 13th branch of Operation Walk! So, in November 2010 Operation Walk Syracuse opened its doors. Over the next few years medical professionals from Saratoga Springs and around the state joined the team. To be more inclusive, the branch name was changed to Operation Walk New York. You will see both names being used, but they are one and the same branch of Operation Walk.
Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more about Operation Walk New York, what this team has already done for those in need of joint replacement and how they are continuing with their goal to “restore hope through motion…one joint at a time.” Make sure to follow along.
